Terms of Use

These terms govern your use of the iPhone app Booze Jar (the “app”) provided by 모엔브 (Hoin Lee) (“we”). By downloading or using the app you agree to them.

Important: the app is not a medical tool. Gani's recovery gauge and timer are just for fun and never a sign that it is safe to drive. Don't drink and drive.

1. The service

The app helps you drink less by logging dry days and showing the money you saved, your streak, widgets and Gani the liver. Daily logging, your total saved, your streak and the basic widgets are free. Monthly stats and patterns, savings goals, extra widgets, Gani's wardrobe and the year-in-review are Premium. There is no account.

2. Premium purchases

Depending on your country, Premium is offered as an auto-renewing yearly or monthly subscription and/or a one-time lifetime purchase. The price and period are shown in the app and in the App Store payment sheet before you buy. In Korea only the lifetime purchase is offered.
Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase and processed by Apple.
Lifetime is a one-time, non-renewing purchase: no recurring charges. It gives Premium on the purchasing Apple Account for as long as we offer the app. Restore it on a new device under Settings → Premium → Restore purchases.
Premium features we add later (such as new outfits) are included at no extra cost. If we ever sell something separately, we will say so clearly before you pay.

3. Auto-renewing subscriptions

Your subscription renews automatically for the same period and price unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
Manage or cancel anytime in iPhone Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions. After cancelling you keep Premium until the end of the paid period, and your log stays either way.
If a subscription price goes up, Apple notifies you in advance and asks for consent where required.

4. Free trials

Some subscriptions include a free trial (for example 7 days on the yearly plan); its length and the price afterwards are shown before you start. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, it converts to a paid subscription and you are charged. Any unused part of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription. Trials are one per Apple Account and are not offered in the Korean App Store.

5. Refunds

Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple under its policies and applicable law. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We don't hold your payment details and can't refund directly, but email us if something went wrong and we'll help where we can.

6. Not medical advice

The app is not a medical device, diagnostic or treatment tool, or a substitute for professional advice. Nothing in it is medical advice.
Gani's looks, the recovery gauge, the “Gani is resting” timer and the Live Activity are a playful metaphor based on the time since your last log. They do not reflect your actual liver function, how much alcohol your body has processed, your blood alcohol level or whether a hangover has passed.
Never use anything in the app to decide whether it is safe to drive, operate machinery or drink again. Don't drive after drinking.
If you drink heavily every day, stopping suddenly can cause dangerous withdrawal. Talk to a doctor before cutting down or quitting, and contact local health services if you need help.
Money saved and comparisons are estimates based on the average spend you entered.

7. Your data

Your log is stored only on your device and we keep no copy. We cannot recover data lost through a lost device, deleting the app or a reset without a backup. See the Privacy Policy.

8. Acceptable use

Don't modify the app or bypass its purchase checks, copy, redistribute or sell it without permission, or use it in a way that breaks the law.

9. Ownership

The app, Gani, the designs and texts belong to us. You get a personal, non-commercial license to use the app under these terms and Apple's EULA. Share cards such as the year-in-review are yours to share personally.

10. Changes to the app

We may change or add features to improve the app. If we ever have to stop offering the app, we will try to tell you in advance in the app or on this site.

11. Disclaimers and liability

The app is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for decisions you make based on the app (especially about drinking or driving), and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the app. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for intent or gross negligence, or your statutory consumer rights.

12. Apple terms

For the app downloaded from the App Store, Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA) also applies. These terms are between you and us, not Apple; Apple is not responsible for the app or its support. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple for a refund of its purchase price.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. This does not take away any protection you have under the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live, or your right to bring a claim there.

14. Changes and contact

We will announce changes on this page and in the app's update notes at least 7 days before they take effect (30 days for changes that are less favourable to you).
